ZAMFARA COMMISSIONER FOR RELIGIOUS AFFAIRS DESCRIBES AFRICAN QUR'ANIC MEMORIZATION COMPETITION AS A WELCOME DEVELOPMENT AND CANVASES SUPPORT FOR ITS SUCCESS


Zamfara State Commissioner for Religious Affairs, Sheikh Tukur Sani Jangebe has called on individuals and organizations to support the learning, teachings and propagation of the holy Qur'an.

The Scholar made the call while receiving members of the state Committee for African Qur'anic Memorization Competition in Nigeria under the Chairmanship of Mal. Nura Alkali Mafara who called on him.

Sheikh Tukur Jangebe who described the newly introduced Qur'anic competition as a welcome development, said the Committee deserves total support from every right thinking person to succeed.

The Commissioner who attributed the security challenges that bedevilled Zamfara to the abuse of the Holy Qur'an and of lack of effective practice of Shari'a legal system, said the society must uphold the teachings of the glorious book to get out of its current predicament.

Sheikh Jangebe enjoined members to always promote unity, love, tolerance and brotherhood among the people for the upliftment of Islam.

Earlier Chairman of the Committee, Mal. Nura Alkali Mafara told the Commissioner that the competition was designed to encourage memorization of the holy Qur'an among Muslim youths.

He said the Committee is working tirelessly to ensure the success of the exercise and expressed the hope that Zamfara State contingents will qualify to the African level of the exercise just as it recorded laurels in previous similar contests.

Meanwhile, the Committee paid similar visit to the State Commissioner for Works, Alhaji Rabi'u Garba Gusau who also pledges to extend his support towards the overall success of the competition.

He further advised members to always promote morality and preach peaceful coexistence among the people.
